Happy New Year’s Day, dear readers! 2018 is a new year, and I am feeling optimistic about it. RE-ENERGIZE. That is the one-word theme I have chosen for this year. Since this is my last year in my 40s, I want to complete this decade of my life on a high note. I have also decided to attempt another happiness project even though I failed miserably last year. It will look a little differently from the one I’ve done in the past; however, the goal is the same…to increase my happiness. I am looking forward to a new year with new possibilities and opportunities. New Year’s Blessings to you, dear readers. Happiness!
If you could choose a one-word theme for this year, what word would you choose?
“Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right.” ~ Oprah Winfrey
Kat,
I’m delighted to hear about your new project for 2018. It certainly looks promising. You asked for other one-word themes. Mine remains the same GET-IT-DONE. This theme — carried out — always produces happiness. Why? Because you can see a long, productive trail of successful accomplishments from your annual plan — including your “bucket list.”
Failure you say? In my opinion, that word simply means another tactic needs to be tried — until the goal is reached. I have found if I want to reach a particular goal, I WILL reach it with a positive attitude, targeted determination and research. Reading feedback from experts who traveled the same journey will pay off with tested methods for trying better tactics. Most importantly, before beginning my yearly plan, I ask God to lead me, give me strength and wisdom to reach these goals. Then daily, I ask myself what I have done to move closer to my goals. With dedication every day, no matter how small, goals are checked off my list. That, my friend, helps to create happiness.
Happy New Year to you and your readers! Make it a fabulous 2018.
Happy New Year, Aunt Mary! Thanks for your amazing response and sharing your theme for the year. I LIKE them both. Also, I appreciate your words of wisdom, especially your perspective on failure. Your ideas are insightful and resonate with me. I’m definitely keeping this trove of inspiration to refer to throughout my happiness journey.
