Fall
Haiku by Katherine Loyacano
Crisp leaves tumbling.
Amber skies and pumpkin pies,
awaken my soul.
Happy Fall, Ya’ll! My favorite season of the year finally arrived last Wednesday, and I welcomed the season by displaying a few fall decorations on my front porch and inside my home, and I engaged in a couple of enjoyable activities to make the autumnal arrival more meaningful. I recorded a vlog of my first day of fall afternoon, which Kelsi graciously edited for me, and I now get to share with you, dear reader. I hope you enjoy it. Happiness!
“And all at once, summer collapsed into fall.” ~ Oscar Wilde
KUDOS: Many thanks to Kelsi for editing my vlog and adding both music and graphics along with my audio recording of the the poem, ”Nothing Gold Can Stay” by Robert Frost. You’re the BEST, Kelsi!
Love your decorations! Happy Fall!
Thanks, Rita! This is the first time I have decorated in a very long time. I think the last time I pulled out decorations was for Halloween when my youngest was in middle school. He’s 20 now. LOL. What is the fall season like where you live? Do ya’ll celebrate Halloween?
We do have Halloween, but not in the same way as you Americans. Comic scarecrow making is becoming a thing in some rural places too which is quite fun to see. We also have Bonfire Night (Nov 5th) for a nice gruesome memorial of when the Houses of Parliament nearly got blown up! That seems to be more fireworks than bonfires now, which I’m not keen on. Give me a good communal outdoor fire any day over the bang, whizz, pop, that scares all the animals and birds!
Very interesting, especially the comic scarecrow making. I’m with you on the bonfire as opposed to the fireworks. My pups are not fans and it causes them lots of anxiety, especially my older dog Sophie.
Love your Haiku! And it was my pleasure to edit the vlog, Kat. You did a wonderful job documenting your celebration. So happy about all of our fun activities on the horizon. YOU are the best! And you make my Halloween season even more SPOOK-TACULAR! Love ya!
Thanks, Kelsi! I love writing haikus. A short and sweet happiness boost. Our Halloween season should be SPOOK-TACULAR, especially after the craziness caused by Ida.
